The NRA New Ad Campaign

The National Rifle Association is trying to fight gun control again. They are going to stat to run more ads. The National Rifle Association’s CEO shows their new ad campaign on Saturday night from Salt Lake City. The NRA said he would also “Confront the real consequence of so called ‘universal background checks’.” At the conference the CEO did not say much about the new ad campaign, but he did spend a lot of time bashing Obama and the democratic party and the background checks that he said are “at the very heart of their anti-gun agenda.”

Man Kills 3

Tuesday morning there was a shooting in Southern California. Three people were killed. “Mr. Syed said, ‘I don’t want to hurt you, I killed somebody. Today’s my last day. Give me your keys,’” Tustin Police Chief Scott Jordan told reporters. He killed the people because he wanted to steal a car. Syed stopped when he finally turned the gun on himself.  Syed was a part time college student. He killed a woman at his home before killing two other people. The woman that was found dead at the scene was thought to be in her twenties.

Asteroid just missed us

Scientists believe that on February 15 there will be an asteroid that will approach the earth. It is said that it will pass safely but it is only 17,200 miles above the earth’s surface. It is half the length of a football field (150 feet) in diameter and has an estimated mass of 143,000 tons. If this were to crash in to the earth it would be equivalent   to 2.4 million tons of TNT exploding.  The chances of an asteroid of actually hitting the earth are one in a million chances, but if it does happen you can see the destructiveness of them.

Boy Scouts Lifting the Ban On Gays

Boy scouts have postponed the decision of admitting openly Gay people from participating from joining in Boy Scouts. They talked about lifting the ban of gays last week, but on Wednesday they said that they will postpone the lifting on the ban until May. Other scout leaders and parents said a fracture between traditional scout councils and liberal ones could create walls. Troops still banning gays disdaining gay led troops, and vice versa, could open the door to a new way to look at the differences and diversity of them.  “In a free society, organizations fail or flourish according to private choices of innumerable families,” the Boy Scouts said in a brief to the US Supreme Court in 2000.
